ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,429.85 points on Tuesday, up 0.86% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,423.81 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 12.15 points from Monday's close of 1,417.70 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,423.81 points and its daily high was 1,434.67 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 15 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).
A total of 72 stocks on the index rose, 21 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Monday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and carmaker Ford Otosan.
Shares of conglomerate Anadolu Grubu Holding performed the best, rising 6.04%, while stocks of chemical firm Alkim Kimya dropped the most, 2.14%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,776.70 by market close, up from $1,762.60 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.8% to $85.02 per barrel as of 6.36 p.m. local time (1536GMT).
