ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,452.67 points on Thursday, up 1.31% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,430.88 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 18.82 points from Wednesday's close of 1,433.85 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,427.77 points, while its daily high was 1,452.67 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($130.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 12.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
A total of 86 stocks on the index rose, eight fell, and six remained unchanged compared to Wednesday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and another private lender Yapi Kredi.
Stocks of automotive major Tofas was the best performer of the day, rising 5.52%. Stocks of conglomerate Ihlas Holding dropped the most, falling 3.28%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,797.30 by market close, down from $1,798 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $72.31 per barrel with a 0.4% loss as of 6.48 p.m. local time (1548GMT).
