ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 3.13% to 118,398.67 points at the close on Monday.
After starting the week at 116,262.12 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 3,590.11 points from Friday's close of 114,808.56 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 116,125.53 and 118,398.67 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was 860.58 billion Turkish liras ($125.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 20.21 billion Turkish liras ($2.94 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 99 stocks on the index rose and one was down from Friday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by real investment trust firm Emlak Konut, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lender Garanti.
Carton producer Kartonsan was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while automotive firm Karsan was the only stock to post a decline, losing 2.04%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,809 by market close, up from $1,807.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $43.25 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday.
