ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.19 percent to close at 91,002.17 points on Wednesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 91,121.22 points and gained 172.60 points from Tuesday's close of 90,829.57 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 90,687.46 and 91,393.91 points, while 46 stocks on the index were on the rise, 36 were on the decline, and 18 were flat compared to the previous close.
The total market value of listed shares on the BIST 100 was around 588.4 billion Turkish liras ($110.9 billion) at the close, and the daily trading volume was 1.6 billion Turkish liras ($310.7 million).
Stocks of event organizer Flap climbed the most, up 17.23 percent, while stocks of energy company Isiklar performed the worst, falling 6.10 percent.
The most-traded stocks were national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, leading defense company Aselsan, private lender Garanti, state lender Halkbank, and iron/steel producer Kardemir.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate reached 5.2840 at close, down from Tuesday's close of 5.2920.
The euro/lira rate also dropped at close, 6.0190 versus 6.0460 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 6.7130 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 6.7250 at close on Tuesday.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,275.00 by market close, up from $1,268.00 a day ago.
The price of Brent crude oil dropped to $51.69 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Wednesday, versus $53.41 at the previous close.
