ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Friday at 1,560.34 points, up 0.90%.
Starting the day at 1,551.54 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 13.93 points from 1,546.41 points at the previous close.
During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,550.14, points and 1,561.75 points, with 49 stocks on the index up and 39 down compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of around 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($172 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 37.1 billion liras ($5.3 billion).
Shares of the fertilizer manufacturer Gubre Fabrika, polyester producer Sasa Polyester, and gold miner Koza Altin recorded the highest trading volumes during the day.
Stocks of agricultural insecticide producer Hektas climbed the most with a 9.97% hike, while shares of Sasa dropped the most, down 10%.
One ounce of gold was sold for $1,774.20 by market close, down from $1,785.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.61 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday.
