ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,434.76 points on Friday, up 0.21% from the previous close.
After starting the day at 1,433.60 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 2.98 points from Thursday's close of 1,431.78 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,425.06 points, while its daily high was 1,440.53 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.08 trillion Turkish liras ($126.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of almost 14.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).
While 35 stocks on the index rose, 62 fell and three remained unchanged compared to Thursday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, glass maker Sise Cam, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
Interest-free lender Albaraka Turk was the best performer of the day with its shares up 6.58%. Stocks of venture capital investment trust Hedef Girisim did the worst, down 4.58%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1.792,90 by market close, down from $1.813,50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $70.88 per barrel as of 6:08 p.m. local time (1508GMT).
