ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,459.57 points on Tuesday, up 0.37% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,461.73 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 5.32 points from the previous close of 1,454.25 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,459.57 points, while its daily high was 1,465.56 points.
Its total market value was around 1.03 trillion Turkish liras ($123.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 18.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 49 stocks on the index rose, 43 fell, and eight were same compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, gold miner Koza Altin, and glass producer Sisecam.
Rim manufacturer Jantsa was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while shares of conglomerate Bera Holding saw the sharpest drop of 6.23%.
The price of one ounce of gold rose to $1,869.50 by market close, from $1,845.80 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $69.20 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT).
