ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,360.75 points on Wednesday, up 0.09% from the previous close.
After starting the day at 1,358.79 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 1.20 points from Tuesday's close of 1,359.55 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,355.23 points, while its daily high was 1,367.63 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.02 trillion Turkish liras ($119.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 10.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.21 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose, 50 fell, and seven were flat compared to Tuesday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Kardemir.
Major cardboard producer Kartonsan was the best performer of the day with its shares up 7.74%. Stocks of RTA Laboratories, operating in biology and health fields, saw the sharpest drop, down 4.2%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,790 by market close, unchanged from the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $73.83 per barrel as of 6:45 p.m. local time (1545GMT).
