ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 1.48% to close the day on Tuesday at 1,404.97 points.
Starting the day at 1,393.57 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 20.54 points over Monday's close of 1,384.43 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,391.69 and 1,410.82 points -- an all time high.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.04 trillion Turkish liras ($135.09 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 25.4 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 77 stocks on the index rose and 23 fell, compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron/steel producer Kardemir.
Conglomerate Alarko Holding was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of real estate trust investment firm Halk GYO dropped the most, losing 10%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,872.60 by market close, down from $1,880 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $50.30 per barrel as of 6:15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Tuesday.
