ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 0.90 percent to close at 104,193.33 points on Monday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 103,564.09 points, gaining 926.75 points from the last week's close of 103,266.58 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 103,475.19 and 104,617.02 points during Monday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 685.2 billion Turkish liras ($128.2 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 72 stocks on the index rose, 25 declined, and three were flat compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by the petrochemical company Petkim, private lender Garanti and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
The shares of light and heavy commercial car producer Karsan were the top gainers -- up 6.75 percent -- and Petkim dropped the most, losing 6.50 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.3770 at close, versus Friday's close of 5.3890.
The euro/lira rate fell to 6.1020 at Monday's close, which was 6.1380 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 7.1190 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.1420 at close on Friday.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,287.60 by market close, down from $1,309.00 at the previous close.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $66.10 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Monday.
