ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 100,604.99 points on Monday, increased 1.63%.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 99,836.53 points. As of the close, it had gained 1,617.51 points from the last week's close of 98,987.48 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 99,836.53 and 101,165.50 points during Monday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 668.4 billion Turkish liras ($117.4 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.36 billion).
On the first transaction day of the week, 75 stocks on the index rose, 18 were down, and seven were flat compared to the previous close.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti, and defense giant Aselsan.
Shares of casting leading sports club Besiktas saw the largest rise, up 15.95%, while Adese Alisveris Merkezleri, which operates in the wholesale and retail trade sector, was the worst performer, with its shares down 13.51%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,512.00 by market close, up from $1,504.75 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.60 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday.
