ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 1.10% to close Thursday at 84,596.16 points.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 83,535.32 points and gained 920.83 points from Wednesday's close of 83,675.33 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 83,535.32 and 84,711.77 points during Thursday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 558.3 billion Turkish liras ($91.9 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.3 billion Turkish liras ($858.4 million).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 48 stocks on the index were on the rise, 36 were on the decline, and 16 were flat compared to the previous close.
The top listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti and petrochemical company Tupras.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and mining company Koza Anadolu.
Shares of major appliance producer Vestel were the top gainers -- up 6.44% -- and energy company Ipek's shares dropped the most, down 5.56%.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,278.50 by market close, up from $1,278.00 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $67.90 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Thursday.
