ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul on Tuesday gained 0.36% to close at a new record high level of 2,519.24 points.
The BIST 100 index also hit a fresh intraday all-time high of 2,533.33 points.
Starting the day at 2,524.02 points, the index increased 8.93 points from Monday's close of 2,510.31 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 2,490.96 points.
Its total market value was more than 2 trillion Turkish liras ($140 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 54 billion liras ($3.7 billion).
During the last transaction day of the week, 46 stocks on the index rose, 49 fell, and five remained unchanged compared to Monday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and steel producer Kardemir.
Conglomerate Deva Holding was the best performer of the day with its shares up 6.91%, while real estate investment trust Is Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi saw the biggest drop, 10%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,977 by market close, lower from $1,994 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was $107.33 per barrel after a 5.15% daily loss as of 6.33 p.m. local time (1533GMT).
