ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day with a decline of 1.10% at 96,030.47 points on Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 97.350,59 points. As of closing, it lost 1,070.82 points from Monday's close of 97,101.30 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 95,917.92 and 97,350.59 points during Tuesday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 640.8 billion Turkish liras ($110.4 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was some 6.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.18 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 41 stocks on the index rose, 47 were down, and twelve were flat compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA and defense company Aselsan.
Stocks of Adese Alisveris Merkezleri, which operates in the wholesale and retail trade sector, were the top gainers with a 19.39% hike, and shares of Turkey's leading tractor producer Turk Traktor fell the most with a 4.70% drop.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,529.70 by market close, up from $1,529.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $58.30 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday.
