ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.62% to close Monday at 1,550.61 points.
After starting the week at 1,566.39 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 9.73 points from 1,560.34 points at the previous close.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,547.61 and 1,569.84 points – 36 stocks on the index rose, 62 fell, and two were flat compared to Friday's close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.2 trillion Turkish liras ($168.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 34.3 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4.9 billion).
Stocks of automotive manufacturer Ford Otosan climbed the most, up 10%, while shares of Sasa Polyester dropped the most, 10%.
The highest trading volumes were posted by gold mining firm Koza Altin, polyester producer Sasa Polyester, and chemical fertilizer producer Gubre Fabrikalari.
One ounce of gold sold for $1,818.00 by market close, up from $1,816.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.11 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday.
