ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 119,201.63 points on Friday, up 0.14% from the previous close.
After starting the day at 118,500.81 points, Borsa Istanbul's index increased 170.46 points from 119,031.16 points at Thursday's close.
On Friday, the BIST 100 hovered between 118,220.76 and 119,201.63 points -- 45 stocks on the index rose, 51 fell and four were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 869.4 billion Turkish liras ($127.2 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 18.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).
Shares of glass manufacturer Sise Cam, defense electronics company Aselsan and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut GYO saw the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of Ege Endustri (EGEEN), which manufactures components for the automotive industry, did the best, rising 10.00%, while shares of cement producer Bursa Cimento did the worst, losing 4.21%.
One ounce of gold sold for $1,895.80 by market close, up from $1,881.60 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $43.27 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday, with a day range of $43.02 to $43.89.
At the beginning of this year, a barrel of Brent oil sold for around $58.
Borsa Istanbul on Monday will remove two zeros from its indices -- including BIST 100 and BIST 30.
