ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday up 1.37% to close at 1,160.71 points.
After starting the week at 1,150.79 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 15.68 points from 1,145.03 points at Friday's close.
On Monday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,150.79, and 1,158.05 points – 52 stocks on the index rose and one fell compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 843 billion Turkish liras ($109 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 15.1 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by glass producer Sisecam, private lender Garanti, and defense giant Aselsan.
Shares of real estate investment trust Akis GMYO were the best performer, with its shares up 7.78%, while stocks of machinery company Cemtas dropped the most, losing 1.48%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,850.00 by market close, down from $1,909.25 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $41.48 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Monday.
