REVISES DECK; UPDATES WITH MORE FIGURES By Aysu Bicer ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 1.56% to close Monday at 1,562.49 points. After starting the week at 1,551.12 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 24 points from 1,538.44 points at the previous close. During the day, the index hovered between 1,547.38, and 1,565.83 points – 80 stocks on the index rose and 18 fell compared to Friday's close. The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($168 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.5 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4.1 billion). Stocks of Sasa Polyester climbed the most, up 9.99%, while shares of cement producer Bursa Cimento dropped the most, 3.69%. The highest trading volumes were posted by gold mining firm Koza Altin, polyester producer Sasa Polyester, and flagship carrier Turkish Airlines. One ounce of gold sold for $1,818.00 by market close, up from $1,816.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets. The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.11 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday. The Turkish lira also continued its rally against the US dollar on Monday, hitting its highest value in six months. The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell below 7 for first time since last August.
