ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye’s benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul ended the week with gains, rising 0.50% to 2,144.26 points at Friday’s close.
Starting the day at 2,141.09 points, the BIST 100 index was up by 10.67 points from Thursday’s close of 2,133.59 points.
The benchmark index posted a rise of 4.40% this week.
During the day’s trading, the index hovered between 2,132.64 and 2,148.67 points – 57 stocks on the index rose, 39 fell and seven were flat compared to the previous close.
It closed the day with a market value of around 1.74 trillion Turkish liras ($117.9 billion) and a daily trading volume of 26.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).
Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines and two iron and steel producers Eregli and Kardemir posted the highest trading volumes on Friday.
Engineering and construction company Enka was the best performer with a 7.11% jump in share value, while shares of real estate investment firm Torunlar GMYO dropped the most – 4.77%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,938.00 by market close, down from $1,943.05 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $106.58 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), slipping 0.06% from the previous close.
