ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended midweek at 1,986.09 points, up 0.82% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,974.17 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index climbed by 16.18 points from Tuesday’s close of 1,969.91 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,961.63 points, while its daily high was 1,999.76.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.57 trillion Turkish liras ($113.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 32.4 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).
During the third transaction day of the week, 48 stocks on the index rose, 47 fell, and five were unchanged compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producer Kardemir, flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and another iron and steel maker Eregli.
Real estate investment trust IS Gyo was the best performer, with its shares up 9.92%, while stocks of investment firm IS Yatirim Menkul Degerler saw the biggest drop of 5.95%.
The price of an ounce of gold was $1,931.85 by market close, up from $1,930 at the previous close.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $109.2 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
