US adds 150,000 jobs in October, lower than estimates

Unemployment rate rises to 3.9% from 3.8%

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US economy added 150,000 jobs in October, lower than market estimates, the Labor Department announced on Friday.

The market expectation for nonfarm payrolls was a gain of 180,000 in October.

Job additions for September were revised down by 39,000, from 336,000 to 297,000, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The unemployment rate, on the other hand, rose to 3.9% in October, from 3.8% in September.

The market estimate for the figure was to come in at 3.8%.

The number of unemployed people also remained steady, at around 6.5 million, according to the Labor Department.
