WASHINGTON (AA) - US State Department has approved a possible sale to Bulgaria of Javelin FGM-148F missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $114 million.
"The proposed sale will improve Bulgaria’s long-term defense capacity to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and to meet its national defense requirements," Pentagon said on Friday.
It will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the US by helping to improve the security of a NATO ally, it added.
The prime contractors will be the Javelin Joint Venture between Lockheed Martin, located in Orlando, Florida, and RTX Corporation, located in Tucson, Arizona.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on Friday.
