ANKARA (AA) - US athlete Sydney McLaughlin won gold medal, marking a new world record, in women's 400m hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships (Oregon22).
The 23-year-old won the competition with 50.68 seconds, breaking her own previous world record of 51.41 seconds.
"I was just trying to process the lactic acid," McLaughlin said, "and I was taking a moment to enjoy what had happened."
Dutch athlete Femke Bol bagged silver with 52.27 and US' Dalilah Muhammad was awarded bronze medal with 53.13.
The Oregon22, the 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships, will continue in the city of Eugene, in Oregon, the US until Sunday.
