ANKARA (AA) – The US government posted a budget deficit of $21 billion for December 2021, the Treasury Department said on Wednesday.
The amount was 85% lower than the figure of $143.6 billion in December 2020.
Total receipts stood at $487 billion, while outlays came to $508 billion, the latest data showed.
The budget deficit for the 2021 fiscal year, which ran from Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2021, was at $2.77 trillion – the second-highest on record after $3.13 trillion during the 2020 fiscal year.
