US, China hold 6th Financial Working Group meeting

Sides discussed macroeconomic, financial conditions in both countries, China’s recent stimulus efforts

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US and China held their sixth meeting of the Financial Working Group (FWG) on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 28, the Treasury Department said Thursday in a statement.

The two sides discussed macroeconomic and financial conditions in both countries, as well as China’s recent stimulus efforts.

The meeting was co-led by Brent Neiman, assistant secretary for international affairs at the Treasury Department, and Xuan Changneng, deputy governor of the People’s Bank of China.

Neiman and Xuan received readouts from FWG technical exercises on international macroeconomic data reporting, strengthening communication in the event of banking stress and climate and insurance risk, according to the statement.

The FWG is one of two working groups formed by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in September 2023.
