ISTANBUL (AA) – The US-China working group on economy held its first meeting on Tuesday, Beijing said.
Top officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce and the US Treasury Department attended the meeting held online.
The officials of the world's top two economies held “in-depth, candid and constructive discussions,” Chinese state-run Xinhua reported.
Discussions revolved around the macroeconomic situations and policies of the two countries and the world, bilateral economic relations, and cooperation in addressing global challenges, it added.
The working group was established during US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s visit to Beijing in July where she met with He Lifeng, Chinese vice-premier and point man on economic and trade affairs with the US.
