ISTANBUL (AA) - US-based global semiconductor manufacturer AMD saw a record revenue at its Data Center segment in the second quarter of this year, according to its financial results statement released Tuesday.

The company posted revenue of $2.8 billion in its Data Center segment in April-June period of this year, which was up 115% from the same period of last year.

The increase in revenue, which more than doubled year-on-year, was primarily driven by the steep ramp of graphics processing unit shipments, and strong growth in central processing unit sales.

AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su said the company's artificial intelligence (AI) business continued accelerating. "The rapid advances in generative AI are driving demand for more compute in every market, creating significant growth opportunities as we deliver leadership AI solutions across our business," she said.

With strong results, the company's stock price was up 6.2% in after-hours trading on the Nasdaq.
