WASHINGTON (AA) - The US will continue to push for action on air defense and other priority requirements for Ukraine, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said on Friday.
Austin virtually joined a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council in Defense Ministers format, where the ministers addressed Kyiv’s urgent need for air defense and other security assistance priorities amidst Russia's attacks on Ukraine, according to a statement by Pentagon.
"Secretary Austin underscored to Allies the need for immediate, concerted action on air defense," it said.
Austin will convene the 21st meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting virtually on April 26.
The US voices strong support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, and the Biden administration pushes for the passage of the supplemental aid package in Congress as soon as possible.
