US economic growth in Q1 revised up to 2% from 1.3%

Market expectation for figure was to come in at 1.4%

ISTANBUL (AA) – US economic growth in the first quarter of 2023 was revised up to 2%, according to the Commerce Department's third and final reading released on Thursday.

The market expectation for the figure was to come in at 1.4%, while the second reading announced last month was 1.3% and the first reading released in April was 1.1%.

The US economy expanded 2.6% in the final quarter of 2022.

"Current‑dollar GDP increased 6.1 percent at an annual rate, or $391.8 billion, in the first quarter to a level of $26.53 trillion, an upward revision of $43.5 billion from the previous estimate," the Commerce Department said in a statement.
