ANKARA (AA) - The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims last week declined by 28,000 to 187,000, the US Labor Department said Thursday.
"This is the lowest level for initial claims since September 6, 1969, when it was 182,000," it said.
The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 214,000 to 215,000, it said in a statement.
The four-week moving average was 211,750, a decrease of 11,500 from the previous week’s revised average, it added.
The US economy added 678,000 jobs in February and the unemployment rate fell to 3.8%, according to the department’s latest figures.
