ISTANBUL (AA) - The US remained on top of the FIBA World Ranking Men after winning an Olympic Gold at the Tokyo Games, the world basketball's governing body said Thursday.
"Led by the country's all-time leading Olympic scorer and tournament MVP Kevin Durant, the USA beat France in the Final to capture the gold medal for the fourth consecutive time while reigning World Cup champions Spain reached the Quarter-Finals," FIBA said in a statement.
"Australia made it to the podium of the Olympics for the first time by winning the Bronze Medal Game over Slovenia, who nevertheless jumped 12 points to the No. 4 world ranking," it added.
The American team received 765.2 points, followed by Spain with 722.4 points, and Australia had 690.5 points.
Turkey are down to 16th place with 487.7 points.
