US new home sales rise 5.8% in November to 3-month high

Figure comes in at 640,000, much higher than estimates of 600,000

ISTANBUL (AA) - US new home sales rose 5.8% in November, climbing to their highest level in three months, according to a report by the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development on Friday.

Sales of new single‐family homes came in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 640,000.

New home sales, which show the number of new single-family homes sold, were estimated to show a decline of 4.7% to 600,000 last month.

The figure for October was revised to 605,000, from 588,000, for a sizeable gain of 8.2%, from 7.5%.

New home sales in November, however, are 15.3% below the same month of last year, when they stood at 756,000.

The median sales price of new houses sold in November was $471,200 and the average sales price was $543,600, according to the report.
