ANKARA (AA) — American Olympic skateboarder Nyjah Huston criticized the quality of the bronze medal he earned at the Paris 2024 Games in a social media post Friday, showing how it had visibly deteriorated in a short time.
"These Olympic medals look great when they are brand new but after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat and letting friends wear it over the weekend, they are apparently not as high quality as you would think," Huston, 29, said on Instagram.
"It is looking rough, even the front is starting to chip off a little," Huston said.
"So Olympic medals maybe got to step up the quality a little bit," he said, adding that his bronze medal looks like "it went to war and back."
Huston won the bronze at the Paris 2024 men's street skateboarding on July 29.
Japan's Yuto Horigome secured gold to retain his Olympic title, while Huston's compatriot Jagger Eaton clinched silver.
The Paris 2024 will end on Sunday.
