ANKARA (AA) - US player Frances Tiafoe eliminated Rafael Nadal in the US Open Round 4 on Tuesday.
Tiafoe reached the quarterfinals by beating Spanish legend with 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-3 sets.
"I played unbelievable tennis today. I really don't even know what happened," said the 24-year-old, "At 4-3, when I went up 40-love, my legs were like cement."
Rafael Nadal said, "I was not able to hold a high level of tennis for a long time. I was not able to create the damage that normally I used to do."
Frances Tiafoe will take on Russian Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.
Tiafoe, who reached his second quarterfinal in US Open, has yet to reach a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in his career.
Nadal, 36, has four US Open men's singles trophies in 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019, among his 22 Grand Slam trophies in total.
