US police find at least 115 improperly stored bodies at Colorado funeral home

Authorities have not yet disclosed additional information regarding handling of human bodies by funeral home

WASHINGTON (AA) - Authorities reported on Friday the discovery of over 115 bodies improperly stored at a funeral home in the US state of Colorado.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a statement that they were called to 31 Werner Road, Penrose, Colorado, on the evening of Oct. 3, in response to a suspicious incident.

It was revealed that the building belonged to the Return to Nature Funeral Home.

“On October 4, 2023, FCSO investigators, the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, and the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies executed a search warrant on the property and determined that human remains were improperly stored inside the building,” it added.

No arrests have been made so far.

Authorities have not yet disclosed additional information regarding the handling of the human bodies by the funeral home.
