WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Joe Biden's symptoms "have now almost completely resolved" after completing his fourth full day of PAXLOVID COVID-19 treatment, his doctor said on Monday.
Biden is only reporting "some residual nasal congestion and minimal hoarseness," Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the president's physician, said in a letter released by the White House. Biden's vitals remain normal, and his lungs remain clear.
PAXLOVID is a pill developed by drugmaker Pfizer to treat those infected with COVID-19.
O'Connor said the president "continues to tolerate treatment well," and will continue his treatment "as planned." He is not currently experiencing any shortness of breath, and will continue to take a low-dose aspirin to serve as a blood thinner while he skips regularly prescribed medicines during his treatment, the doctor said.
"As I've stated previously, the BA5 variant is particularly transmissable and he will continue to isolate in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations," O'Connor wrote.
"He continues to be very specifically conscientious to protect any of the Executive Residence, White House, Secret Service, and other staff whose duties require any (albeit socially distanced) proximity to him," he added.
Biden is continuing to isolate at the White House after testing positive for the coronavirus last Thursday.
