WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Joe Biden will travel to Peru and Brazil between Nov. 14 and 19, the White House said Thursday.
Biden will participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Lima, where he will highlight US economic leadership and engagement in the Indo-Pacific region, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
He will then head to the city of Manaus in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest to engage with local, indigenous and other leaders working to preserve and protect this critical ecosystem in the first such visit of a sitting US president, she added.
In Rio de Janeiro, Biden will attend the G20 Summit, where he will also meet with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
