ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges started Tuesday mixed.
The Dow Jones was up 128 points, or 0.37%, to 34,070 at 9.49 a.m. EDT (1349GMT). The S&P 500 added five points, or 0.12%, to 4,414.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, lost 21 points, or 0.16%, to 13,664.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.6% to 14.99. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, lost 0.3% to 3.003%.
The dollar index was flat at 101.92, while the euro was unchanged at $1.0985 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.2% to $1,933 per ounce and silver rising 0.1% to $23.18.
Oil prices were up around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $78.44 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $73.83.
