ISTANBUL (AA) — Major exchanges in the US stock market were mixed on Friday.
The Dow Jones was up 44 points, or 0.1%, to 39,913 at 10.10 a.m. EDT (1410GMT).
The S&P 500, on the other hand, was down by just one point, or 0.01%, flat at 5,295.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, decreased 18 points, or 0.11%, to 16,680.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.4% to 12.37. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.5% to 4.396%.
The dollar index added 0.13% to 104.60, while the euro shed 0.05% to $1.0859 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the green, with gold rising 1% to $2,401 per ounce and silver soaring 3% to $30.45.
Oil prices were up around 0.05%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $83.32 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $79.31.
