ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened Friday with losses.
The Dow Jones was down 151 points, or 0.38%, to 39,295 at 9.34 a.m. EDT (1334GMT). The S&P 500 fell five points, or 0.1%, to 5,314.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, decreased 30 points, or 0.19%, to 16,629.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, added 0.75% to 23.97. The 10-year US Treasury yield decreased 1.6% to 3.932%.
The dollar index shed 0.08% to 103.13, while the euro rose 0.03% to $1.0920 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold adding 0.13% to $2,431 per ounce but silver decreasing 0.44% to $27.39.
Oil prices were down around 0.2%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $78.94 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $76.06.
