ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Thursday with losses.
The Dow Jones was down 230 points, or 0.67%, to 34,205 at 9.43 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 was 37 points in the red, or 0.85%, to 4,354.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, was off 136 points, or 1%, to 13,333.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 1.3% to 15.33, while the 10-year US Treasury yield added 3% to 4.474%.
The dollar index was up 0.36% to 105.54 and the euro shed 0.05% to $1.0655 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the red, with gold trimming 0.6% to $1,918 per ounce and silver decreasing 0.9% to $23.03.
Oil prices were up around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $94.34 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $90.84.
