ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened with gains on Monday.
The Dow Jones was up 307 points, or 0.98%, to 32,724 at 9.59 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 rose 42 points, or 1.04%, to 4,160.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, jumped 176 points, or 1.4%, to 12,820 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, plummeted 4.9% to 20.23. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.5% to 4.871%.
The dollar index lost 0.24% to 106.31, while the euro increased 0.48% to $1.0615 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold trimming 0.3% to $1,999 an ounce but silver rising 1.1% to $23.37.
Oil prices decreased more than 1.5%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $87.80 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $83.85.
