ISTANBUL (AA) — US stock exchanges posted their third straight winning week as they closed Friday with gains.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added just 1.81 points, or 0.01%, to finish the day at 34,947. The blue-chip index rose 1.9% this week.
The S&P 500 increased 5.78 points, or 0.13%, to end the session at 4,514. The index recorded a weekly gain of 2.2%.
The Nasdaq rose 11.81 points, or 0.87%, to close the day at 14,125 as the tech-heavy index jumped 2.4% for the week.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was steady at 13.80. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.04% to 4.439%.
The dollar index lost 0.51% to 103.82, while the euro added 0.61% to $1.0916 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.02% to $1,981 an ounce and silver decreasing 0.1% to $23.72.
Oil prices rose more than 4%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $80.62 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $75.86.
