NEW YORK (AA) – U.S. markets closed mixed Tuesday with falling bank shares and rising tech stocks.
The Dow fell 54 points to 21,574 after quarterly earnings at major banks fell short of market expectations.
Goldman Sachs dipped 2.6 percent, while Bank of America was down 0.5 percent.
Netflix soared 13.5 percent on a strong earnings report Monday.
The Nasdaq rose 29 points to close at 6,344 points, while the S&P added one point to finish the day at 2,460.
