ISTANBUL (AA) — Major exchanges in the US stock market were higher on Thursday.
The Dow Jones was up 88 points, or 0.22%, to 39,996 at 10.39 a.m. EDT (1439GMT). The S&P 500 rose by eight points, or 0.16%, to 5,316.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 28 points, or 0.17%, to 16,770.
Both the S&P and the Nasdaq closed Wednesday at new record-high levels.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 1.4% to 13.79. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.54% to 4.457%.
The dollar index added 0.15% to 104.51, while the euro shed 0.16% to $1.0865 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the red, with gold losing 0.42% to register at $2,376 per ounce and silver falling 0.46% to $29.53.
Oil prices were up by around 0.8%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $83.35 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $79.33.
