NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher on Thursday with positive macroeconomic data.
The Dow added 27 points to begin the day at 19,861. The S&P 500 was up three points at 2,253.
The Nasdaq rose eight points to start trading at 5,446.
Initial jobless claims fell by 10,000 to 265,000 for the week ending Dec. 24, the U.S. Labor Department announced earlier Thursday.
The latest four-month average of the data also fell, by 750, to 263,000, the department said.
