NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher on Monday as oil prices went up.
The Dow added 21 points to begin the day at 20,677 points and the S&P 500 rose less than 3 points to 2,359 points.
The Nasdaq increased 9 points to start the first trading day of the new week at 5,887 points.
At the first bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $52.80 per barrel with a 1.2 percent gain, and international benchmark Brent crude was at $55.83 with a 1.1 percent increase.
