NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher Wednesday after President Donald Trump announced his nominee to lead the FBI.
The Dow added 36 points to begin the day at 21,173 points, while the S&P 500 rose 4 points to 2,433.
The Nasdaq was up 22 points to start trading at 6,297 points.
Trump announced earlier Wednesday that he would nominate former Assistant Attorney General Christopher Wray as the new head of the FBI.
The announcement has given confidence to investors and calmed the markets, according to experts.
Markets and investors are now focused on former FBI Director James Comey's first public testimony at the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
