Federal Reserve's minutes to be released

NEW YORK (AA) - The New York stock market opened higher Wednesday ahead of the release of the minutes of the Federal Reserve's last meeting.

The Dow added 20 points to begin trading at 21,499 points and the S&P 500 rose 2 points to 2,431 points. The Nasdaq increased 13 points to start the day at 6,123 points.

Details of the Fed’s June meeting were due to be released later Wednesday and are expected to indicate the likelihood of further interest rate rises this year.

The Fed increased its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points on June 14 -- its second rate hike of the yea, and the fourth since December 2015.
