NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened higher Tuesday with increase in oil prices.
The Dow Jones rose 102 points to begin the day at 17,595 points. The S&P 500 increased 11 points to open at 2,059, while the Nasdaq was up 29 points to begin the day at 4,795.
At the opening bell, the American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was up 0.6 percent to $48.39 per barrel and the international benchmark Brent crude rose 0.3 percent to $48.51 a barrel.
Some major tech firms, like Microsoft and Google's parent company Alphabet, gained almost one percent at the stock market opening.
The markets will be closely watching the U.S.' weekly crude oil inventories data which will be revealed Wednesday.
